It was a brief conversation with the older woman beside me in the café, and it captured everything exceptional about deciding. "To decide" derives from the Latin word dēcīdere, which means "to cut off, cut out, and choose a course of action." Deciding is essential: It channels all energy, helps us focus, and move us forward.
The essential step:
We can change everything, but not everything. So, if we want to act with impact, we have to choose, decide, and then follow through on that decision, whatever it entails.
